Pride is a good thing. It can nurture our self worth. Too often we don’t allow ourselves to be proud of an accomplishment when we’ve done something well. Those old voices keep us from being completely OK with it.

If you are feeling low, try this simple exercise. Close your eyes and think of things you’ve done in the past that made you even the tiniest bit proud. It could be something like learning to ride a bike for the first time or singing in the church choir. If we allow it, the feeling of pride is the same no matter what value others may choose to put on it, like big or small. For once, size is not important.
